During the last decade of our century, in the context of intermedial studies on an international scale, the need to consider the specific relationships between the arts as part of this field of scientific knowledge, which has its origins in intertextuality, has become increasingly evident. The emergence of the interartistic phenomenon in more recent works has in its own way influenced the emergence of new genres, such as artists’ books. Butor and Badin’s “Catalonian garden” in 2000 is emblematic in this respect. It is also being rediscovered in older genres, such as Montaigne’s essays. Any work, whatever the period to which it belongs, when it contains a combination of arts in the most varied configurations and recreates in a unique way the relationships between them in the performance, expresses the interartistic phenomenon in its specific manifestation in the same place and at the same time. With the variations of the interartistic phenomenon – interpictoriality, intermusicality… we perceive its immensity in the manifestations of the Holy Spirit. From a semiotic point of view, we can interpret the interartistic structure of the complex artistic sign through Hjelmslev’s polyvalent sign or Cassirer’s specific symbolic form of art, which the Apostle Paul reflects in the Bible with the following revelation: “The gifts are different, but the Spirit is the same…”.
